Derby’s historic Cajun and Creole club returns…

About

Founded in 1990 by Chris Hall, The Swamp Club quickly became a hugely popular event attracting a variety of people from all over the country. It was also the launch pad for the Cajun dance craze that swept the nation throughout the decade.

As well as having the top UK based acts in the related ‘Louisiana Roots’ genres, they booked key artists from Louisiana including; Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys, John Delafose, Beau Jocque, D.L. Menard, Eddie LeJeune, Canray Fontenot and Balfa Toujours, to name but a few.

The events were always a sell out, often turning away hundreds of would-be revellers, and gained the attention of media outlets leading to The Swamp Club regularly being broadcast on BBC and ITV.

Whilst the Swamp Club closed its doors in the late nineties, its name is still fondly remembered and talked about by all those who attended.

But now the time is right to re-open the doors, dust off the accordions, re-ignite the dance floor and get this party started!
